The prelude to the greatest sporting event of the year has passed through Nottingham. The Olympic torch stopped off for the night after thousands of people had lined the streets of the City and surrounding towns and villages to watch it pass. Undeterred by heavy downpours, which at one time stopped the runners, and some sunny spells the crowds were there with their flags cheering the runners ever forward.

Hopefully all this thought about sport, and don't forget Wimbledon, will give people the idea that more sport will lead to greater fitness and get them interested it taking more exercise.
